LEADERSHIP

Jackson Twiss

Good leaders are made not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-reflection, determination and hard work.  To inspire people to  higher levels of collaboration, there are certain things you must know, do and be. These do not come naturally, but are achieved through lots of hard work and determination. Good leaders are always trying to improve their leadership skills, they do not just do the bare minimum and give up.

What makes a leader a good leader? Great leaders are successful because when they have a idea that they believe in, they stand by that idea, are passionate about it and don’t give up on it.  The Wright brothers, Orville (1871 – 1948) and Wilbur(1867 – 1912), were two American brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who were credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903. The Wright Brothers experimented by trial and error 69 times to produce a plane that could fly with stability before they got it right.  They did not give up, they were passionate about their ideas and dreams until they succeeded.

Being a leader isn’t easy, people don’t just wake up one morning and they are suddenly leaders, they are not born leaders. Leadership takes time and perseverance and a passion for their belief in what they are doing. For example, Thomas Edison the inventor of the lightbulb he failed over 2000 times before he finally got it right but he didn’t give up, he wouldn’t even admit he failed he just told anyone who asked “I just found 1999 ways not to make a lightbulb”. He’s not the only one though thousands of leaders have experienced failure but they kept going until they succeeded - where most of us would have given up.

Leaders use many different qualities in life such as collaboration but it’s how they use these values is what makes them different to ordinary people with no or little values. Believing in yourself is an important quality that all leaders need to have to be great. Gandhi believed in himself and now he is regarded as one of the most influential pacifist's of recent century’s but he didn’t do it for the fame he did it because he believed he could make a difference. Another one all leaders need is the ability to reflect on what they have done and only then will they know what to do for example Gandhi had to be able to reflect so he could know that if he did something wrong during a protest he would know how he could improve on it so his next protest would be more successful.

Anyone can be a leader if you put your mind to it. If you have an idea you have to stand by it and never give up on it even if someone tries to bring you down. you gotta believe if you want to be a leader. so if you have a dream of being a leader even if it is just a tiny one then grasp that dream and become a leader.
